<p class="MsoNormal"><font><span style="font-family:Helvetica">(TORONTO, ON – Wednesday,
August 8th, 2012) <b>Playwrights Guild of
Canada</b> (PGC) is proud to announce that funding has been secured to hire <b>Bobby Theodore</b> to conduct research on theatre
translation. The goal is to create a contract guideline for playwrights and
theatre translators to protect the artistic rights of writers.</span></font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><font><span style="font-family:Helvetica"> </span></font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><font><span style="font-family:Helvetica">Mr. Theodore was
selected to conduct this research as he is a writer and translator himself, a nominee
of the Governor General’s Award for Literary Translation, and has previously
worked as a literary agent.</span></font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><font><span style="font-family:Helvetica"> </span></font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><font><i><span style="font-family:Helvetica">“The aim of this research is to provide a helpful
resource that will empower any Canadian playwright as they approach the
translation process.”</span></i></font></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><font><span style="font-family:Helvetica">It is expected that a
final draft of the guideline will be made available at the end of November.</span></font></p>
