We have recently been made aware of a number of scholarships available
through the Trudeau Foundation which funds Canadian Doctoral students
studying Social Sciences and Humanities.<o:p></o:p></div>

The scholarships consist of up to $60,000 per annum including a
separate annual travel allowance. Applications are accepted from those
applying for doctoral study, or those in the first or second year of
such a programme. A link to one or more of the Foundation themes is a
basic requirement for the Trudeau Scholarship. The Trudeau Foundation’s
themes are Human Rights and Dignity, Responsible Citizenship, Canada in
the World, and People in their Natural Environment. Further details can

date, the Foundation has offered scholarships to students in the
following fields: anthropology, communications, criminology, law,
economy, history, literature, philosophy, religion, environmental
sciences, political sciences, social sciences, sociology, and the arts.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

style="margin-right: 0cm; margin-bottom: 18pt; margin-left: 0cm; line-height: 13.5pt; font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman',serif;">
<span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Calibri,sans-serif;">The
scholarship scheme allows for a maximum of six nominations per
institution, and the final application must be submitted by the
University with a letter of support from a high ranking official.
Therefore, we would ask that departments identify any students looking
to make an application for the scholarship scheme and notify the
Graduate School by<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><u>16<sup>th</sup><span
class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>November<span
class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></u>at the latest. The Graduate
School will then assess the number of potential applicants and inform
departments which six applications we would be looking to support. We
would then ask that departments to work with the applicant to complete
the form and submit with all the required transcripts and references to
the Graduate School, no later than<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><u>Monday
10<sup>th</sup><span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>December</u>.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
