Centre for Drama, Theatre and Performance Studies, Faculty of Arts and Science,
University of Toronto, seeks applications for a position in the area of Asian
Theatre and Performance Studies at the rank of Assistant Professor. The
appointment will commence on July 1, 2014. <span style="font-family:"MS Mincho";

</span></p><p class="MsoNormal">Applicants must have earned a Ph.D. degree in Drama, Theatre
and Performance Studies or related fields, by July 1, 2014 or soon thereafter.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>The applicant will have a demonstrated
record of excellence in teaching and research in Asian performance and theatre
traditions, and a cognate interest in the comparative study of theatre and
performance across cultures, particularly between Asia<a name="_GoBack"></a>
and the Americas, or on other issues related to the Asian diaspora and
globalization. Asian will be broadly defined for this search as the study of
modern performance cultures linked to the pre-modern and post-modern practices
of continental Asia, South or South-east Asia, Korea or Japan. We are
interested in scholars who approach theatre and performance studies from an
interdisciplinary perspective through historically and theoretically grounded
research in cultural studies, critical race and/or ethnic studies, and/or the

</span></p><p class="MsoNormal">The successful applicant will serve the diverse interests of
our undergraduate student population and contribute to research-intensive
masters and doctoral programs with a large interdisciplinary faculty. Both
undergraduate and graduate programs have a mandate to provide an
interdisciplinary and practice-based academic focus. The successful applicant
will integrate teaching and research in both graduate and undergraduate
programs and increase our international profile with respect both to research

courses in an undergraduate theatre curriculum, including Western and
post-colonial theatre histories, and to combine the teaching of theory/history
