<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: TimesNewRomanPSMT, sans-serif;">This seminar invites interested participants to investigate dramatic and performative renderings of Canada in the dual context of the émigré theatre experiences
1) within the country and 2) abroad. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: TimesNewRomanPSMT, sans-serif;">It aims to explore the West-East/North-South dichotomies in Canadian theatre, both in English and French, focusing specifically on issues of language, space, spiritual
and religious values, and identity; and also wishes to facilitate an ongoing dialogue on<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: TimesNewRomanPSMT, sans-serif;">exilic aspects in contemporary Canadian theatrical practice and research.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

How does theatrical practice and scholarship resist the gravity of the federal government’s émigré politics?<o:p></o:p></span></p>

the works of Canadian artists-expatriates, both in English and French? How visible are these expatriates on foreign stages? How do the experiences of nostalgia, displacement and linguistic othering mark the works of Canadian theatre expatriates?<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: TimesNewRomanPSMT, sans-serif;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><b><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: TimesNewRomanPSMT, sans-serif;">The seminar will accept no more than 15 (fifteen) papers, no longer than 5000 words each. The deadline to receive the proposals (250 words) is December 15, 2013;
the due date for the final papers is March 1, 2013.<o:p></o:p></span></b></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: TimesNewRomanPSMT, sans-serif;">anticipation of the online discussion based on the received material. The participants will be arranged in groups and asked to read and provide feedback on each
other’s work; as well as to design a list of questions and issues arising from their papers and discussions.
