The <b class="">School of Creative and Performing Arts</b>, <b class="">Drama</b> in the Faculty of Arts, University of Calgary, invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of <b class="">Assistant Professor</b> in the area of <b class="">Directing</b>. The
anticipated start date is <b class="">July 1 2016</b>.<br class="">

The successful candidate will establish and maintain an active and externally funded research program, teach graduate and undergraduate courses in the area of their specialization in addition to a wide range of courses in Drama, and contribute to the graduate
program.<br class="">
<br class="">
The preferred candidate will have a terminal degree (MFA or PhD) and have achieved national and/or international recognition within their professional career. Preference will be given to: 1) candidates with a wide range of demonstrated expertise, including
(but not limited to) text-based performance, theatrical devising and/or performance creation, and immersive and/or participatory performance; 2) candidates with successful post-secondary teaching in the area(s) of specialization; 3) candidates with an established
research and/or research-creation program, including performances, presentations and publications; 4) candidates who can expand and enrich the SCPA’s intercultural awareness and expertise base.<br class="">

The successful candidate must display evidence of excellence in both research and teaching. Candidates may demonstrate research excellence through publicly presented performances, peer- reviewed publications, a strong record of research productivity, and a
proven track record of successfully securing research and/or artist grants. Evidence of excellence in teaching should be demonstrated via a convincing statement of teaching philosophy, strong teaching evaluations, and a clear record of commitment to undergraduate
and graduate teaching, student supervision, and mentorship. Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate a commitment to service within a university setting or the wider community.<br class="">

The <b class="">School of Creative and Performing Arts </b>is a community of practicing creators, performers and scholars who, with expert technical and administrative support, are dedicated to the education of artists and critical thinkers in the context of
a University devoted to the formation of intelligent and engaged citizens. In addition to a deep engagement with the foundation of their chosen discipline, students have the opportunity enrich their education through structured encounters with the other disciplines
