<i class="">Performance Studies in Canada</i>, Laura Levin and Marlis Schweitzer articulate the emerging relationships between theatre studies and performance studies in Canada not only as distinct from the US and the UK, but also as fields of contest with

 one another. Listing recent Canadian conferences and postsecondary programs that focus on performance studies topics, they assert that it is a “false dichotomy that positions theatre studies in opposition to performance studies,” one that is “unproductive”

 (15). Viewed in various ways, we might imagine these fields as invitations for conversation among “strangers,” in the sense of Barry Freeman’s recent consideration of globalization on Canadian stages; as merging in Heather Davis-Fisch’s recent examination

 of “performance histories” in <i class="">Canadian Performance Histories and Historiographies</i>; or as when Jill Carter describes “Indigenous templates” “maintaining balance, arriving at consensus, avoiding conflict, and fulfilling responsibility for the

 good of all” (2). </span><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;

 and Ojibwa (Mississauga) peoples. Located at the junction of the Great Lakes and the St. Lawrence River on the resource-rich Canadian shield, upon European contact “Kingston” became a strategic shipping port and military outpost, first for the French and then

 the British, adjacent to the United States. Garrison theatricals became an integral part of the town’s life and Fort Henry became one of the area’s most recognizable buildings following the War of 1812. The college that became Queen’s University was built

 in 1841.</span></p>

 dance, and drama that is Canadian or international in scope. A working group enables CATR members to meet in a two-hour CATR conference timeslot to discuss a subject or to enable a project that requires more than the one year afforded by a seminar slot. Because

 the subject or project of the working group should be of benefit not only to its members but also to the broad CATR membership, a portion of the conference timeslot should be dedicated to a presentation of findings/results open to all conference participants.

 A working group should consist of at least 5 active members at any given time with one designated as the working group leader. As with all conference sessions, working group members must be CATR members in good standing in order to participate in the group

 year-round and to attend the conference. After three years the working group must wait one year before reapplying, if desired.<o:p class=""></o:p></span></p>

 à l’étude de la performance, les auteurs affirment qu’il s’agit d’une « fausse dichotomie, qui place les études théâtrales en opposition avec les études sur la performance » et qui est « improductive » (p. 15). Sous différents angles, nous pourrions imaginer

 ces terrains soit comme des invitations à la conversation entre « étrangers », dans le sens où l’entend Barry Freeman dans sa réflexion récente sur la mondialisation dans le théâtre canadien; soit comme des lieux de fusion, selon l’examen récent de Heather

 Davis-Fisch de l’histoire de la performance dans <i class="">Canadian Performance Histories and Historiographies

</i>(Histoires et historiographies de la performance au Canada); soit comme ce que Jill Carter décrit comme des « modèles indigènes », qui « maintiennent l’équilibre, atteignent le consensus, évitent les conflits et s’acquittent de leurs responsabilités pour

 (L’autre D : situer la danse dans l’art dramatique, le théâtre et la performance) a accueilli des chercheurs nord-américains et internationaux qui se sont penchés sur la place de la danse au sein du théâtre et des études sur la performance au Canada. En d’autres

 termes, la rencontre et la confluence des domaines de spécialité dans nos recherches et notre art peuvent être transformées en sites d'émancipation et de compréhension.<o:p class=""></o:p></span></p>

 à la jonction des Grands Lacs et du fleuve Saint-Laurent sur le Bouclier canadien si riche en ressources, ‘Kingston’ est devenu au contact des Européens un port stratégique d’expédition et un avant-poste militaire, d’abord pour les Français puis les Britanniques,

 à côté des États-Unis États. Les théâtres de garnison sont devenus une partie intégrante de la vie de la ville et Fort Henry est devenu l’un des bâtiments les plus facilement reconnaissables de la région après la guerre de 1812. Le collège qui est devenu l’Université

<span lang="FR-CA" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;" class="">Les organisateurs sont invités à soumettre des propositions de groupes de travail qui se tiendront sur deux à trois ans, en théâtre, performance, danse ou dramaturgie, de portée nationale ou

 internationale. Les groupes de travail permettront aux membres de l’ACRT de se rencontrer durant deux heures pendant le colloque pour discuter d’un sujet ou de lancer un projet requérant plus que l’espace d’un séminaire d’une année. Comme le sujet ou le projet

 devrait être profitable non seulement aux participants, mais aux membres de l’ACRT globalement, une part du temps alloué durant le colloque devrait être consacré à la présentation des résultats devant tous les participants intéressés à y assister. Un groupe

 de travail devrait comprendre au moins cinq membres actifs en tout temps, dont un sera désigné directeur du groupe. Comme pour toutes les séances du colloque, les membres du groupe de travail doivent tous être membres en règle de l’ACRT pour y participer toute

 l’année et assister au colloque. Après trois ans de travail, le groupe devra attendre un an avant de poser à nouveau sa candidature, le cas échéant.
