The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, for a three-year term beginning July 1, 2020 and ending June 30, 2023. An additional one-year renewal may be possible.</div><div><br>Applicants must have an MFA or Ph.D in the area of Theatre, Drama or Performance Studies or a closely related discipline at the time of appointment, or shortly thereafter, with a demonstrated record of excellence in research or professional creative practice, in addition to teaching. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in the Theatre & Performance program and to direct student productions annually and must have experience directing text-based, devised, or community-engaged theatre. In addition, the successful candidate must have expertise in theatre history, dramatic literature, intercultural and global theatre, Canadian theatre, Applied Theatre, or acting. Candidates must also demonstrate an aptitude for working within our interdisciplinary arts department where horizontal connections among faculty of different fields are encouraged: see <a href="http://www.utsc.utoronto.ca/acm/acm-research-themes" target="_blank">http://www.utsc.utoronto.ca/acm/acm-research-themes</a>.</div><div><br>The successful candidate will be expected to undertake research and/or creative professional activity at the highest international level and to establish an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded program of research or practice-based work. Candidates must provide evidence of excellence in research or professional creative practice as demonstrated by a record of publications in top-ranked and field relevant journals or forthcoming publications meeting high international standards, the submitted research statement, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades, or other forms of peer recognition for creative work, international recognition through critical reception and arts grant support. Evidence of excellence must also be provided via strong endorsements from referees of high standing.</div><div><br>Candidates must also demonstrate an ongoing commitment to excellence in teaching. Evidence of excellence in teaching must be provided through teaching accomplishments, the teaching dossier including positive student evaluations, a teaching statement, sample course syllabi, and documentation indicating innovation in any other teaching related activities, such as leading workshops or seminars. The successful candidate will teach and supervise students at the undergraduate level. The successful candidate will participate in curriculum development and<br>departmental and university committee work in order to contribute to program and departmental initiatives. Experience in these areas is most welcome.
