<b>Theatre History </b>course (THPERF 371) which will be offered in the spring term (May – August) of 2023. This course may focus on any context of world theatre history from a pre-modern period to the end of the nineteenth century. Course content should pay
close attention to surviving documentary evidence of theatre practice, taking account of its value as evidence; its historical, social, political, and aesthetic contexts; and its relationships to at least one significant theatre work from the same period.
This is one of three courses devoted to the research of theatre practice that our program offers, the other two courses focus on performance theory and the analysis of modern theatre history. For many of the students taking this course, the study of pre-modern
theatre history will be new.<span style="color:red"><o:p></o:p></span></span></p>

</span>students. If the number of students in this course exceeds 50, the successful candidate for this position will have access to a TA. There is an option of a 90-minute synchronous class meeting time.
