Among other accomplishments, Maillet was known for her one-woman play <a href="https://www.thecanadianencyclopedia.ca/en/article/la-sagouine"><i>La Sagouine</i></a> (1971, trans. by Luis de Cespédes in 1979 and Wayne Grady in 2007), which was performed by Viola Léger over 2000 times in Canada, the United States and Europe. She was named <a href="https://catracrt.ca/distinguished-scholar-and-honorary-associates/">Honorary Associate</a> of the Canadian Association for Theatre Research/Association canadienne de la recherche théâtrale (CART/ACRT) in 1992.</span></div><div><span style="font-size: 14px;"><br></span></div><div><span style="font-size: 14px;">La dramaturge et romancière acadienne Antonine Maillet est décédée cette semaine à l’âge de 95 ans. Connue entre autres pour les monologues de <i>La Sagouine</i>, interprétés plus de 2000 fois par la comédienne Viola Léger, Maillet a inspiré par son oeuvre le complexe touristique du <a href="https://sagouine.com/fr/a-propos/historique">Pays de la Sagouine</a> à Bouctouche, au Nouveau-Brunswick.
