Co-edited by Thea Fitz-James and Alice Nelson, this special issue aims to address the relative absence of Fringe festivals within theatre scholarship by exploring the Canadian Fringe circuit—its histories, aesthetics, labour practices, infrastructures, artistic
communities, contradictions, and ongoing transformations. With the recent passing of Brian Paisley, addressing this gap feels particularly timely.</div>

We invite artists, producers, technicians, volunteers, administrators, audience members, and others connected to Fringe festivals in Canada to submit their names for consideration. Selected participants will contribute a short article (~750-1000 words) reflecting
on an aspect of Fringe culture, practice, experience, or history.</div>
