This is an interesting idea. I think it would require a shift from calling for nominations (and asking for a statement from the nominator(s)) to asking for statements from nominees themselves. Do we want to do this at this early stage? I'm concerned that
not all nominees would be willing to invest their efforts<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><i>at this very early stage<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></i>in a statement that essentially needs to help them sell themselves to us if they
want to be shortlisted for interview. My experience is that potential candidates need to be wooed, not encouraged to sell themselves (at least, early).</div>
