Biopsy indicated a G7 lesion on rt side 3+4 and 3+3. After serious consideration of all options I opted for Focus laser Ablatiin (FLA) where I could keep my prostate and not have the potential side effects of incontinence or impotence. Dr. Sperling in Delray Beach Florida will be performing it this week. The upfront cost it’s around $28,000 and insurance doesn’t wanna pay for pathology but that doesn’t matter to me I will try to recover it on the backend by appeals. Well FLA has a 95% cure rate there is also the potential risk of retain your prostate and having the cancer regenerate later. If you don’t do FLA I would seriously look at proton radiation there’s a center near you in Loma Linda California . Well it cost between 70 and $120,000 last estimate I heard Medicare does cover it and so do insurance companies on appeals. Well proton radiation remains probably the long-term solution it’s side effect is a loss of semen while having sex meaning you will have dry ejaculation. It sounds like your cancer isn’t too far progressed and you need to seriously consider the side effects of radical prostatectomy. Good luck to you.
