The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is centralized within our _ Indigenous Initiatives Office_<https://uwaterloo.ca/human-rights-equity-inclusion/indigenousinitiatives>.

Subject: Removal: Surplus Bin

Good afternoon,

I hope everyone is doing well, I’ve had the opportunity to walk over to ECH and got a chance to meet Sean Kimpinski who helps to manage the bin pickup and disposal process. I was also given a tour of the facility and gained a better understanding of the disposal process.

All submitted asset disposal forms are printed out and work through on a as available basis, they aren’t prioritized. Sean was able to find our submitted form and bump it up the queue and will aim to get our bin picked up before the 22nd of March.

The process for ordering new bins isn’t really fleshed out and was able to work out two new bins be provided to the ACO when CS retrieves our current bin, they have keys to all rooms across campus therefore no real coordination is needed for retrieval.

Once the first bin is picked up the identification of other to be disposed assets will be prioritized, once the new bins have been populated I will coordinate with Sean to have them picked up. This will help to dramatically reduce the hazard within our supply rooms.

Thank you Camille, Herbert, Jason, Nevil and Bill for helping me with this process.

Sincerely,

--

I respectfully acknowledge that I live and work on the Haldimand Tract, the land unequivocally promised to the Six Nations of the Grand River<https://www.sixnations.ca/> for their allegiance with the British during the American War of Independence. The land promised to them included 950,000 acres, but today they own less than 5%. My active work towards reconciliation includes learning about this history, actively listening to the stories from the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples, and finding ways that I can embody reconciliation as a settler.
