Two things; first the play topic:

First, the Anthropology society will having a pub crawl on November
18th. We will be meeting in the upstairs in the Huether Hotel at the
Barley Works at 7:00 pm. The Huether is located at 59 King Street North
in Waterloo. The theme is "being liminal". Everyone belongs to some
tribe or several. You may belong to a tribe of one... that still counts.
Skateboarders, computer nerds, movie aficionados...all tribes. So come
in the costumes and colours of your own "tribe".

Professors are invited and welcome to this event. We'd love to see you.

Now the work topic (still fun):

International Project Directors/Selected Chairs/Exchange Coordinators
Anne Zeller says that "If any of my Anth 260 students need to miss class
to go to this I will try to work around it if they come and talk with me
about it."

Dr Justin Hines, Director of Operations –of the field research
organization Operation Wallacea will be giving a presentation on
Wednesday November 23 from 3-4;30 in Needles Hall Room 3004 concerning
biodiversity monitoring programmes in Indonesia, Honduras, Egypt and
South Africa. These programmes provide opportunities for students next
summer to gain tropical biodiversity experience as Research Assistants
or to gather data for their Senior Theses. Academics are also being
encouraged to put forward projects for inclusion in the program for
future years.

Further details can be found at the web site http://www.opwall.com/ or
