*EVENT*

End of Term Mixer - Friday March 31^st - UPSTAIRS at the Grad House
starting at 5:30 PM (feel free to arrive earlier)

Students and professors are all invited to attend our End of Term Mixer.
It will be a single location as opposed to a crawl. Come out and share
in your experiences through this year, your summer plans and of course
food and drink. Snacks will be provided.

*REMINDER*

We will be having a rock climbing event at Sportsworld in Pioneer Park
on Saturday March 25th (TOMORROW) starting at 10:00 am. If you aren't
feeling energetic, bring $10 for two climbs but if you are really
feeling like clinging and leaping bring $20 for the day. There is a
restaurant there to re-energize. Don't worry if you haven't climbed
before. A number of people have experience and will be happy to "show
you the ropes". Please RSVP to me before then so that I can let them
know how many of us are going. Directions are available at:
http://highergroundclimbing.com/about/location.shtml

*OPPORTUNITY

*
Dr David Lubell has a large collection of lithic artefacts excavated in
Algeria in 1978. His colleague Noura Rahmani (who will be teaching a
course here next term) is studying them for her post-doctoral project,
and they need to label the remainder of the collection so that she can
work with them.

The artefacts are from a Capsian rockshelter and date between 9000 and
6000 calBP. They can use the opportunity to teach anyone helping them
learn about lithic typology and technology and how to analyze the material.

Work times can be very flexible, and the work will be done either in PAS
2008 or another room in PAS. Dates are also flexible, but they are
planning now for the May through July period -- they could start earlier
and/or go later depending on individual preferences and availabilities.
Unfortunately, they don't have a research grant for this so they can't
offer to reimburse students for their time, but it will be a learning
experience and they will give each volunteer a letter of appreciation in
which they detail what the student did.

And, of course, don't forget the party at the end!

If you're interested, or would like further details, please contact Dr
David Lubell either by email (dlubell at watarts.uwaterloo.ca
<mailto:dlubell at watarts.uwaterloo.ca>) or call him at home (745-0175).
