LECTURE & MEETING with Pamela Downe
Thursday, April 5, 2007
1:30 p.m. Talk in HH 373
ENGENDERING HEALTH BY GENDERING HOME: Experiences
of Young Women involved in Migrant Sex Work in the eastern Caribbean
Drawing on ethnographic fieldwork in the eastern Caribbean, this
presentation explores the ways in which young women involved in
cross-border sex work and systems of trafficking discuss and prioritize the
health conditions that they face through their work and travel. Particular
emphasis is placed on how spontaneous enactments of "home" amidst
constant uprootedness give rise to a collective dialogue about health
and health care behaviours.
4 p.m. Informal meeting with students from Women's Studies
and Anthropology.
(PAS 4288)
The Anthropology Department would really appreciate it if you are able
