Hello everyone,
It’s taken a while, but we finally have a price estimate for the
spring term study abroad course in Italy. The dates for the trip are
May 13 to June 2.
Dear Anthropology students,
The estimated total cost is $4000, if we have 30 people on the trip.
This includes the fixed hotel and airfare costs of $3395, plus an
estimate for the costs of the entrance fees and other expenses.
Breakfast is included, but no other meals. This price is for triple or
quadruple occupancy rooms. There is a further charge of $390 per
person for double occupancy rooms.
The price includes roundtrip airfare from Toronto to Rome, 9 nights in
Rome, 2 nights in Chianciano Terme (in Tuscany), 3 nights in Florence,
4 nights in Pompeii/Naples, and a final night in Rome before flying
back to Toronto. Along the way, we will be visiting museums,
archaeological sites, churches, exhibits and other attractions. All
students must register for the course, either for Anthropology or
Classical Studies credit. The price does not include the tuition for
0.5 credits.
Now the bad news. We need a non-refundable $100 deposit immediately to
reserve a place, and a further non-refundable deposit of $1000 by
January 29. While it is possible to sign up for the trip later than
January 29, the price for the airfare and hotel will not be guaranteed
after that date.
The balance of the hotel and airfare charges, $2195 (after $1100
deposit) plus the supplement for double or single rooms is due on
March 16. The final balance will be due no later than April 15. The
first $3395 may be paid by check, money order, or credit card. For the
final balance, $605, we will need payment by check or money order.
Because the price is based on the number of participants, we need to
have at least 30 participants. So sign up, and recruit your friends.
It’s going to be a great trip!
Please contact Prof. Liston (mliston at uwaterloo.ca) or Prof. Hardiman
(Hardiman at uwaterloo.ca) for further information, or to reserve your
place on the trip.
Have a good weekend,
Prof. Liston
