Hi everyone,

Tom Siek, a graduate student at the University of Waterloo has asked me to
forward this message to all of you:

Are any of you guys interested in going to the Paleopathology Association
and American Association of Physical Anthropologist annual meetings?
They're both in Calgary this April. The PPA runs from April 8-9 and the
AAPA is from the 10-12. They're being held at the same venue. (Also I'll be
presenting at the PPA!) I've booked a room in Calgary for that week. I went
for the pricey option because it's right where the conferences will be
held. Also downtown Calgary is pretty pricey in itself and I figured that
even if we did get a cheaper room a bit out of the way, the price of taxis
would be huge. BUT if we cram enough people into the room I booked, we can
split the price and make it cheaper. For now, I've got it booked from the
6-13. I'm thinking of changing it to the 7 to 12. Right now, it's 219 a
night (that's with the discount arranged by the conference organizers). If
I can get at least three other people to split the cost with me, it'll be
54 per night. Conferences are pretty fun, you get to meet other students
who are interested in similar/cool topics and you get to meet famous
academics or even ones that you might want to study with in the future.
Plus these meetings wont be held in Canada again for a few years, the next
three are going to be in the US, so this is a good chance. Also you get to
see Calgary if you've never been. Please let me know if you're interested,
also spread the word to anyone who might want to go as well.

If anyone is interested in attending and/or they have any questions, please
email Tom at tsiek at uwaterloo.ca

Cheers,

Anthsoc
