 The 2015 Astypalaia Bioanthropology Field School is now open for
applications.  The school is based on a very large Archaic-Classical
children's cemetery.  We are responsible for laboratory work on the human
remains, which includes micro-excavations of the burials which are inside
large amphorae, planning, photography, conservation, identification,
measuring and cataloguing.  The school lasts for 5 weeks from 1 July 2015.
We accept 20 students each year and there is a supervising staff of 6.
Both undergraduates and postgraduates are welcome to apply and there are no
particular requirements although students are able to make full use of
previous training in laboratory anthropology and field archaeology. The
specialist skills for our challenging material are taught in lectures and
practical classes during the first week, which is followed by closely
supervised work in which each student carries out all stages of the process
for a number of burials.  Details about the project and the field school,
