"Shadow of a Dream": the Ancient Olympics in the Modern World

Join us, Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in the James J. Brown
Auditorium at the Waterloo Public Library (located at 35 Albert St.,
Waterloo) for an overview of ancient Olympia and the Games for which it was
renowned.  This discussion by Sheila Ager, Chair and Associate Professor,
Department of Classical Studies, will focus on the nature of sport,
competition, politics and religion in ancient Greece as well as explore the
connections (real and imagined) between the ancient and the modern Games.
