2009 Anthropology Department's Sally Weaver / Silver Medal Awards

The 2009 Anthropology Silver Medal and Sally Weaver Awards will be held on
Friday, October 16th at 7:30 p.m. in EIT 1015

 

Guest speaker: HEATHER PRINGLE

Ms. Pringle is a Canadian writer and popularizer of archaeological
knowledge.  She is the author of "In Search of Ancient North America: An
Archaeological Journey to Forgotten Cultures" and many magazine articles on
archaeological topics, and currently the author of a blog for Archaeology
magazine.

Her lecture is entitled:"The Barenaked Archaeologist: Telling Tales of the
Past out of School and in the Media"

After the lecture, the Silver Medal for academic achievement in Anthropology
will be presented to this year's winner and the 2009 winner of the Sal
Weaver Memorial Tuition Scholarship will be announced.  This scholarship is
in honour of our late colleague and friend, Sal Weaver, who taught in the
Anthropology Department for over 25 years.

A Reception will follow in EIT and all are welcome to attend.
