Mat Schulze (Germanic and Slavic Studies):
Cultural Encounter of the Language Kind: In the 3000-year history of
Indo-European languages, contact between ethnic groups has been the norm.
Violent or otherwise, such encounters resulted in what linguists call
language contact. The words borrowed from other languages provide
fascinating insight into the interacting and emergent European cultures.
