David Bromwich is Sterling Professor of English at Yale University.  
He is the author of Hazlitt: The Mind of a Critic (1983), A Choice of  
Inheritance: Self and Community from Edmund Burke to Robert Frost  
(1989), Disowned by Memory: Wordsworth's Poetry of the 1790s (1998),  
and Skeptical Music: Essays on Modern Poetry (2001), and the editor  
of a collection of speeches and letters by Edmund Burke, On Empire,  
Liberty, and Reform (2000).
