As part of their 50th Anniversary celebrations, the Faculty of Arts and the Department of English Language and Literature are pleased to announce a debate between
Christopher Hitchens and Barry Brummett (University of Texas at Austin) on the Role of Religion in Culture
Noted public intellectual CHRISTOPHER HITCHENS (/God Is Not Great/, / Hitch-22: a Memoir/) and well-known rhetoric scholar BARRY BRUMMETT (/Contemporary Apocalyptic Rhetoric/, /The Rhetoric of Popular Culture/) will debate on stage at the Hagey Hall Theatre of the Humanities on Saturday, June 4, starting at 7:00 pm.
The debate will be moderated by Jian Ghomeshi of CBC Radio's Q, and will responded to by University of Toronto philosopher Mark Kingwell.
