Department of French Studies Evening Lecture Series - January Invitation

Dear Colleagues,

Please join us for a special evening lecture series presentation / Wine and Cheese on January 22nd at 5pm in the Laurel Room, South Campus Hall.

Our guest speaker will be Jennifer Tremblay, a children's literature author. Jennifer Tremblay has an impressive resumé, which includes a background in French literature, her own publishing house and script-writing for children's television shows. We look forward to hearing about her rich experiences. This Café-Rencontre will be followed by the launch of a new book edited by Professors Tara <https://uwaterloo.ca/french-studies/people-profiles/tara-collington> Collington<https://uwaterloo.ca/french-studies/people-profiles/tara-collington> and François Paré<https://uwaterloo.ca/french-studies/people-profiles/francois-pare>, titled Diasporiques : mémoire, diasporas et formes du roman francophone contemporain. This collection of texts includes more than twenty contributions from specialists of the diasporas. It should be noted that Alisha Valani, one of our alumni, published an article on Tahar Ben Jelloun in this book.

JENNIFER TREMBLAY
AUTEURE DE LITTÉRATURE JEUNESSE ET CO-FONDATRICE DES ÉDITIONS DE LA BAGNOLE

Jennifer Tremblay a étudié en littérature à l'UQAM et publié quelques nouvelles, un livre de poésie (Histoires de foudre), un roman (Tout ce qui brille), un récit théâtral (La liste), des articles et des albums pour la jeunesse (Deux biscuits pour Sacha, Un secret pour Matisse, Miro et les canetons du lac Vert, Madame Zia). Elle a scénarisé des émissions pour le jeune public à la télévision de Radio-Canada (Les Chatouilles et Bouledogue Bazar) et fait jouer quelques-unes de ses pièces de théâtre. En 2004, elle a co-fondé, avec Martin Larocque, les Éditions de la Bagnole.

MÉMOIRE, DIASPORAS ET FORMES DU ROMAN FRANCOPHONE CONTEMPORAIN
Portant sur le roman francophone contemporain, les articles réunis dans cet ouvrage abordent une variété d'auteurs, de Bernard Assiniwi à Kateb Yacine, de Maryse Condé à Anthony Phelps, tous réunis par cette appartenance ou cette  sensibilité à la diaspora.

This event will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at 5:00pm in the Laurel Room, South Campus Hall.
Presentations will be in French, questions can be asked in English.
