** Winnetou, by Karl May
------------------------------------------------------------

Once a semester, the Waterloo Centre for German Studies' reading group meets to discuss a book. This fall, we're going back to the Wild West, German style, with Karl May's Winnetou I (1893). You don't need to read or speak German to participate.

Winnetou I is the first of four volumes in Karl May's popular series. Old Shatterhand, the German protagonist and land surveyor, tells the story of his adventures out west, including those with his friend and blood brother Winnetou, the young Apache chief who must deal with the expansion of the railroad.

** The Meeting
------------------------------------------------------------

Date: Tuesday, November 28th
Time: 7PM

We'll begin our meeting with a short tour of the 19th-century Mennonite home and then sit down for our book discussion in the stone-foundation basement, next to a cozy fire.
