The Creation Process of Concord Floral
Speakers are Erin Brubacher, the Original Dramaturg and Cara Spooner the Original Director of Concord Floral.
What is Concord Floral?
Concord Floral is an award-winning play that was created in 2014 by the trio Erin Brubacher (dramaturg), Cara Spooner (director) and Jordan Tannahill (playwright).
It is set in Vaughan, Ontario. Suburbia. All the homes look exactly the same ... except Concord Floral. Standing in the middle of a field beyond the backyards of the suburbs, Concord Floral is a run-down one-million-square-foot abandoned greenhouse, where the neighbourhood teenagers come in search of privacy, freedom, and companionship. They hide their secrets there, in a place that could be considered their makeshift home.
Join moderator William Chesney (Associate Dean of Arts) for a conversation with Erin and Cara about the process of creating Concord Floral, a play that blends the past and present, the forgotten and the remembered to tell a contemporary rendition of a haunting urban myth.
Please see the attached poster with details about the Speaker Series on November 15th.
