** Austrian Pianist Anna Magdalena Kokits

Anna Magdalena Kokits was selected for the 2016/17 “The New Austrian Sound of Music” program. This sponsorship program, created by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs (http://wcgs.us13.list-manage.com/track/click?u=3beb03ccd9b149a64146f1eb9&id=a55e98f043&e=de7642ba22) , identifies and promotes outstanding young Austrian musical talents.

Ms. Kokits has been playing piano since the age of four. Ms. Kokits already has a number of achievements in her repertoire, including winning several prizes in national and international competitions. She is a specialist of contemporary and 20th-century repertoire.

Ms. Kokits's appearance is co-sponsored by Conrad Grebel University College, the Embassy of Austria in Ottawa, Alexander Zemlinksky Fonds bei der Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Wien, Austrian Cultural Forum, and the Waterloo Centre for German Studies. Photo of Ms. Kokits by Nancy Horowitz.


** After the Concert: The Official Opening of CALLIOPE Austria
------------------------------------------------------------

Following Ms. Kokits' concert, you'll be shown the way to the Conrad Grebel atrium, where our reception and this exhibition will be.

CALLIOPE Austria tells the stories of women, who have far too often been forgotten, overlooked, and marginalized in Austria’s official historiography. It is a fact that lends all the more importance to this exhibition’s attempt to survey the past 200 years in light of the biographies of important Austrian women.

CALLIOPE Austria will be on display all day at the Conrad Grebel atrium from September 27-29 and October 2-6. The exhibition will then be shipped off to Alberta, so this is your only chance to catch it.

CALLIOPE Austria is co-sponsored by Conrad Grebel University College, the Embassy of Austria in Ottawa, Austrian Cultural Forum, and the Waterloo Centre for German Studies.

When: Friday, September 29 @ 7PM
Where: The concert takes place in the Conrad Grebel chapel, and the exhibition and reception in the atrium.
Cost: The evening is free, and all are welcome. Seating is on a first-come, first served basis.
