W3 invites all women and non-binary graduate students, faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and staff in all faculties at the University of Waterloo to submit proposals for our first ever W3 REPRESENTS: A Research Symposium<https://uwaterloo.ca/events/events/w3-represents-research-symposium> on February 20, 2019.

This interdisciplinary symposium aims to provide an opportunity for the women and non-binary UW community to present on campus without the monetary and time commitments of conference travel—or the pressure of a typical conference setting.

We encourage research proposals, panel ideas, and creative presentations, on a wide-range of topics, from grad students, post-docs, staff, and faculty in all fields and disciplines at the University of Waterloo.

This conference is a great opportunity for you if…

  * You don't have a lot of options for presenting and sharing the work that you do. Maybe you're a junior researcher who doesn't have funding to go to conferences. Or perhaps you're involved in non-academic work and want to share knowledge or a project with a curious and open group of people.
  * You normally attend and present at conferences, but want to share exploratory or new research, or findings and analysis that aren’t suitable for specialist audiences.
  * You just want to get more experience/practice presenting in front of a friendly, supportive audience!

Want to apply?
Please submit a 300-word abstract describing your project and why and how this venue might facilitate the presentation of your work using this form<https://goo.gl/forms/2nkXk4XKqojAVobl1>. Submissions are due December 10, 2018.

This W3 event is sponsored by the Faculty Association of the University of Waterloo, the University of Waterloo Staff Association, the HeForShe IMPACT 10X10 campaign, the Department of Communication Arts, the Department of English, and the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences.

For additional information, contact Kim Hong Nguyen, Assistant Professor of Communication Arts, ML 236A, kim.h.nguyen at uwaterloo.ca<mailto:kim.h.nguyen at uwaterloo.ca>, or any other W3 committee member.

I acknowledge that I live and work on the traditional territory of the Attawandaron (Neutral), Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. The University of Waterloo is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land promised to the Six Nations that includes ten kilometers on each side of the Grand River.
