Heather MacDougall<https://uwaterloo.ca/history/people-profiles/heather-macdougall> is an associate professor of history specializing in the history of medicine, public health, and health policy in Canada. Her research focuses on vaccine resistance in Canada and in particular the public and professional reactions to the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine and immunization campaigns from the 1960s to the present. She also works closely with public health agencies to understand how historical factors have impacted vaccine uptake. At Research Talks, she will discuss the progression of vaccine hesitancy and how its contested history influences interactions between health care providers and the public.
