Join WCGS next Tuesday, November 5, 2019 for The Buried Raging Sermons of the Warsaw Ghetto Rabbi by Professor James Diamond, Chair of Jewish Studies at the University of Waterloo.
The Buried Raging Sermons of the Warsaw Ghetto Rabbi
Professor Diamond will give a talk on a recovered manuscript of weekly sermons delivered in the Ghetto by a Hasidic rabbi desperately trying to preserve his faith in the face of unimaginable loss and pain. It is a rare testament to one human being’s struggle with the incomprehensible evil of the Holocaust.

Presented in cooperation with the Department of Religious Studies and Hillel Waterloo.

Celebrate International Education Week - Alexandre Trudeau
November 18-22 is International Education Week at the University of Waterloo, the high point of which will be a visit to campus by renowned filmmaker and storyteller Alexandre Trudeau. Mr. Trudeau will be giving a keynote address to high school and university students (as well as anyone else who wishes to attend) about how his ability to speak multiple languages has enriched his life, both personally and professionally, and why he believes all students should have diverse opportunities for language learning and study abroad. The keynote will be followed by a panel discussion featuring industry professionals, alumni and more, all part of the Goethe-Institut’s Career Booster – Global Experience Day.

Presented in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut Toronto, the Department of Germanic and Slavic Studies, Waterloo International, the Faculty of Arts, the Faculty of Engineering and the Department of Spanish and Latin American Studies.

Once a semester, the Waterloo Centre for German Studies's reading group meets to discuss a book that is related to German-speaking culture. This semester they're reading Benedict Wells: Vom Ende der Einsamkeit / The End of Loneliness, trans. Charlotte Collins.
