Over many years in the Waterloo region, Jean has built reciprocal and respectful relationships between post-secondary institutions and First Nations, Métis, and Inuit communities. We are now very fortunate to have her back on campus to guide our university’s Indigenous initiatives and effective response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's calls to action. Jean is Inuk and a member of the Nunatsiavut Territory of Labrador.

I acknowledge with respect and gratitude that I live and work on the traditional territories of ‎the Neutral, Anishinaabeg, and Haudenosaunee peoples. The University of Waterloo is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land promised to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River.
