Hi, Skid: the link doesn't work for me. Thank you for this email. It is meaningful for two reasons: I had always admired the list of events and speakers etc from the Centre--they seemed broadly interesting and mindful. And I'm happy that campus allies are stepping up our game.

wishing you more of the blessedness that brings us together,

Vershawn Ashanti Young, J.D., Ph.D.

Subject: Inclusion and Diversity in German Studies

The worldwide protests of June, 2020, have made it clear that we need to do more to combat anti-black racism and racism against indigenous peoples and people of colour. The Waterloo Centre for German Studies condemns the racism and violence that continues to be directed against all people of colour, and we wish to do what we can to make inclusion and diversity hallmarks of our field. One step we’ve taken is to put together a list of resources to help instructors, students, and others educate themselves about racism and its connections to German studies.

This list is by no means exhaustive; it is an introduction intended to reach an audience of experts and non-experts alike who want to learn more. We hope it might serve as one example of how we as educators can show solidarity at this moment. If you wish to suggest other resources, please contact us at wcgs at uwaterloo.ca<mailto:wcgs at uwaterloo.ca>.
