The Department of Fine Arts, the Department of Germanic and Slavic Studies, and the University of Waterloo Art Gallery invite you to a one-day symposium titled "Why Yugofuturisms Now?"

This event is part of the ongoing Yugofuturisms series, dedicated to examining Yugoslavia's legacy and imagining its future. The series will continue next spring (2025) with a four-day conference. Join us at the University of Waterloo Art Gallery (UWAG) for an engaging afternoon of discussions centered on Yugoslavia. The project began with the opening of “War and Piece,” an exhibition by Toronto-based contemporary artist Sadko Hadzihasanovic, curated by Ivan Jurakic at UWAG. The one-day symposium on Saturday, November 30 builds on that exhibition with two panels exploring Hadzihasanovic’s work and opens up themes of Yugofuturism.
