The Human Rights Program of United College, in collaboration with Shatitsirótha’ Waterloo Indigenous Student Centre and the Office of Indigenous Relations, invites you to the two following events on Wednesday, January 29, 2025:
Event 1 - 12:20-2:20pm (brown bag event): Transitional Justice and Human Rights: A Dialogue between Colombia and Canada
This dialogue aims to advance our understanding of the role of artistic and cultural practices in the current transitional justice contexts of Canada and Colombia from a multidisciplinary human rights perspective.
Event 2 - 5:30-8:30pm (refreshments will be served): Yintah: Wet’suwet’en women leading the defence of dignity, territory and rights
After the screening of the Yintah documentary, there will be a conversation with Dr. Karla Tait, Director of the Unist’ot’en Healing Centre of the Wet’suwet’en Indigenous People and one of the protagonists featured in the documentary. There will also be the opportunity for a solidarity action for the Wet’suwet’en (supported by Amnesty International UW-Students Group and Group Nine-KW).
