Join Vivian Solana for a discussion on the political, social, and humanitarian ties connecting Spain and the Sahrawi people of Western Sahara. Drawing on long-term ethnographic research, this talk explores how migration, solidarity networks, and humanitarian initiatives have shaped Spanish-Sahrawi relationships, supported a growing Sahrawi diaspora in Spain, and contributed to the ongoing reproduction of Sahrawi nationalism in exile.

Vivian Solana is an Associate Professor in Carleton University's Department of Sociology & Anthropology. Her research focuses on Sahrawi refugee camps, nationalism in exile, and the social and political relationships connecting Sahrawi communities and Spain.
