                       NOTICE OF POSITION VACANCY
 
                    MONTANA STATE UNIVERSITY-BILLINGS
 
POSITION:       INSTRUCTOR/ASSISTANT PROFESSOR - Search #95-20
                      COMMUNICATION ARTS - THEATRE:  Full-time, One-
year, Fixed-term (contingent upon funding)
 
DEPARTMENT:           COMMUNICATION ARTS:  College of Arts and Sciences
 
DATE TO START:        Fall Semester 1995 (August 1995)
 
STARTING SALARY:      Dependent upon education and experience and
subject to the collective bargaining agreement.
 
BARGAINING UNIT:      MSU-Billings Faculty Association/AAUP/MFT
 
DESCRIPTION:  Primary responsibilities include (but are not limited
to) teaching introduction to acting, introduction to stagecraft, and
play analysis; directing a play in the fall semester and providing
technical direction for play productions; and teaching general
education courses in interpersonal communication and public speaking.
In addition, this position may include student advising, departmental
and campus committee participation, long distance telecommunication
teaching, and outcomes assessment.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
*    M.F.A. in theatre strongly preferred; M.A. in theatre or in
     speech with substantial, pertinent coursework and/or experience
     in theatre considered.
*    Evidence of teaching and play production experience/ability.
*    Evidence of leadership and ability.
*    Willingness to contribute to the quality of an active, strong
     communications department.
*    Commitment to undergraduate liberal arts education.
 
DEADLINE DATE:  Initial screening of applications to begin May 5,
1995 and will continue until the position is filled.
