ACTR WOMEN'S CAUCUS DINNER
SATURDAY MAY 29, at 6:00 pm
Restaurant L'Acad mie
((4051 St.-Denis, corner of Duluth)
Bring your own wine from the SAQ (liquour store) downstairs!
The ACTR women's caucus has traditionally gotten together for a
supper meeting where women members of the association could exchange
ideas and support their colleagues in facing issues particular to women in
theatre studies. This year we are proposing to explore ways in which
caucus members might continue these discussion between ACTR annual
meetings. To do this we will ask members attending the dinner to identify
three major areas of concern for the women's caucus. Some members have
already suggested, for instance, that we look at the ways in which students
react to women's teaching, the problems of maintaining links with women's
groups outside the university, and the ways in which feminist research
agendas are evaluated in different departments. Do these or other questions
interest you? Based on our discussions on Saturday, a shorter meeting
during the lunch hour Monday will look at concrete mechanisms that would
allow us to support each other in exploring these issues further.
After the dinner some of us might want to go to the theatre together
and in that light I would suggest that women reserving tickets for the
Festival du Th tre des Am riques consider choosing either _La Nuit_, by
Anne-Marie Cadieux (10pm at the Monument-National) or _Tales of the
Red River_ by the Viet-Nam National Water Puppets (9 pm at the Old Port,
warm clothing suggested).
I would also suggest that those planning to attend the Theory Group
on Sunday evening and then to the theatre might choose Larry Tremblay's
_The Dragonfly of Chicoutimi_ , at the Th tre d'Aujourd'hui, which is not
far from the Caf Cherrier where the theory group is meeting.
