Hi CANDRAMA-ers!
You will have received my fairly sarcastic response to some non-proofread
outfit. I sent them a response (copied to CANDRAMA), and seconds later got
2 e-mail messages:
1) 3 levels of "user unknown" from my mailserver -- the e-mail address of
the company that I sarcasted (if that IS a word) does not exist, apparently;
2) A message telling me that my message had successfully been distributed
to the CANDRAMA mailing list (220 members - which is *great* - last time I
checked it was 197 or 170 or some-such # under 200).
To stop my babbling, the point is: Even if one is
uncertain/fearful/unknowing about the World Wide Web, or applications
thereof, there are lots of us out there that ARE aware, and are *more* than
willing to help. It can be done cheaply, it can be done easily; don't get
suckered by the first flashy sales-routine.
This is a quickly expanding area - there are many *legitimately* concerned
and helpful people out there - there are just as many (or more) SHARKS (who
are after a quick buck). Most non- [or not-for-] profit organizations can
get a web access/presence VERY cheaply (if not free) - universities often
will assign students as webmasters to develop you pages as an exercise for
the student.
Thanks for listening to my rant - I am now stepping off the soapbox.
