PART-TIME INSTRUCTOR POSITIONS AVAILABLE
The School of Art, Drama and Music invites applications for the following
teaching positions to be offered in the 1997-8 session.

Drama 2X06E The Art of the Film  [September - April]
        An introduction to film style and technique through a detailed
critical analysis of major works from the silent period to the present
day.  (Evening class with film screening)

Drama 3J03  Topics in Film       [September - December]
        Previous topics include Film Comedy and Genre Studies.  Sample and
proposed topics from applicants should be submitted.  Prerequisite:  Drama
2X06.

Drama 3G03  Performance History Before 1800  [September - December]
        An examination of issues in the study of Western theatrical
tradition.  Prerequisite:  6 units of Level II Drama.
        Sample and proposed topics from applicants should be submitted.

Drama 2M06  History of Theatrical Performance in the Western World
                                [September - April]
        A survey of the traditions of Western theatrical production from
Classical Greece to the present, including architecture, design, stage
machinery, the organization of production, the training and preparation of
the actor, and the expectation of the audience.  Some emphasis will be on
the social context of theatre, and on research methods and problems.
Prerequisite:  Drama 1A06 (introductory course)

Qualifications:  PhD complete or near completion preferred; teaching
experience at the University level.
