PRESENTS

AN INTERPLAY
CONCEPTUALIZED AND DEVELOPED BY
CLAIRE BORODY AND DARIO P. DEL DEGAN

Inspired by The Illustrated Man science fiction writer Ray
Bradbury's acclaimed novel, Illustrations is an eerie
interplay of sounds, movement and words. Illustrations
explores the way in which technology expands and extends the
concept of space but negates the development of
communication and face-to-face interaction between human
beings.

Conceptualized and developed by choregrapher Claire
Borody and composer Dario P. Del Degan, this interplay is underscored
with original music performed live by IDIOSYNCRATIC IDIOM,
enhanced by a constructivist set design by the
Toronto architect Karen Cyvornyek, whose international work
includes set designs for the Italian theatre company
Attori in Corso and an ethereal lighting design by Chris Herr, a Ph.D.
candidate from the University of Toronto. Illustrations
features performances by Alexis Butler, Teza Lwin, Deborah Ann Peart,
Catriona Shennan and Owen Thompson.

In a time when the technological revolution gloriously hails
the next millenium, Illustrations travels to a world in
limbo, very much like our own, in which the human voice is
disembodied--surgically removed from the self--and the
search for something beyond has become the exploration
of space and the unknown.
