The Department of Theatre, Film and Television Studies, University of Wales
Aberystwyth
The Department seeks to appoint a Professor of Theatre/Performance Studies
and invites applications from qualified candidates with appropriate
expertise and research experience in any relevant area of study.
Applications would be welcomed from academics who have trained and taught
outside the British Higher Education system, in Europe or America, or other
parts of the world. The successful candidate will be expected to play an
active part in the Department as a whole, including teaching, research and
administration. S/he will be expected to be innovative in approach to
developing new course provision and to take a lead in developing research
within the Department as a whole, including performance based research.
The Department also seeks to appoint a Lecturer or senior Lecturer in
Design, who will be responsible for the Department's design provision and
for developing new courses in this area, including a Joint Honours Degree.
Existing provision includes traditional courses in Set and Lighting Design
and new modules in Computer Aided Design. As from next academic session,
when new accommodation will be complete, the Department will be developing a
well-equipped and integral Design unit. Candidates will be required to play
a full part in all aspects of the department's activities and to contribute
strongly to the research profile, either in traditional forms of research,
or research equivalent activity.
