Hi, Alastair.
As Shawn Huffman mentioned (thanks, Shawn), I have done quite a bit of
research that might be said to fall into the category of "Theatre as
Science".
I am nearing the end of my thesis on computer culture and its links to
contemporary theatre, particularly (but not exclusively) Quebec theatre,
and have written several articles on the subject. My research is not
really oriented around the work of the actor, but my approach is open
enough that it might be interesting for people interested in this aspect of
theatre practice.
However, I published one article, based on a paper presented at the IFTR
conference on the theme of Acting a few years back, which applies the
notions of digital and analogical communication to the role of actors in
the image theatre of artists such as Gilles Maheu and Robert Lepage. (This
article is in French.)
If you're interested in obtaining specific references or in communicating
with me personally, please don't hesitate to contact me "off the list". I
would be interested to hear about your "Theatre as Science" projects.
