Thank you for adding your voice to the recent vociferous protest by
faculty, students, journal editors, scholarly associations, writers, and
librarians from around the world against the proposed massive cuts to
Canadian Literature 's budget. The UBC administration has revoked its
original decision and imposed a more tolerable 5% reduction.  The Dean of
Arts, whom the journal now reports, asks us to emphasize that UBC had no
intention to accept the proposed budget cuts.
