F.Y.I. more news from the Evil City:

Hi. Here's an art note for Cdn theatre and film people...

Ever read (or seen? I've only read it) Ken Garnhum's _Beuys Bouys Boys_
(in _Making Out_ ed. by Robert Wallace) and wanted to know more about
German artist Joseph Beuys? what did he look like? what did his art work
look like? is it performance art? is it modern sculpture? what is this
thing about the use of felt for his art work? ....

Well.... the Art Gallery of Ontario has a noon-hour series of *free*
documentaries about artists and this Friday, 2 October, they will screen
_Joseph Beuys_ (1980, 55 mins).

Cheer, --- Kathy.

P.S. On 23 October, the AGO will be screening _Artist on Fire: The Work of
Joyce Wieland_ (1987, 54 mins) and director Kay Armatage (Professor of
Film at U of T) will be present to introduce the film. In case you need
an intro, Joyce Wieland (1931-1998) was a Canadian artist, painter,
feminist, film maker, environmentalist, (cultural) nationalist. She had
talent and wit and bravery. She was the first living Canadian woman
artist to have a solo exhibition at the National Gallery of Canada (1973)
and at the AGO (1987)..
