Encyclopedia hits 10,000

Hello all; this falls into the category of soft-spam; but I just had to try
it out here.

THE ENCYCLOPEDIA OF CANADIAN THEATRE ON THE WWW
(http://www.canadiantheatre.com) has just passed 10,000 hits (verified by
Link Exchange). That's since it was test launched on September 26, a mere
five months ago. That means an astounding average of 65 a day. For a
Canadian, informational site (about theatre!) that's great news and we're
celebrating by throwing around the big numbers.

OTHER (BIG) NUMBERS FROM CANADIANTHEATRE.COM YOU NEED TO KNOW (or not...):

THE ENCYCLOPEDIA occupies 14.75 megabites (mg) of cyberspace; of this, 5.1
mg are the coding for the text alone or enough to fill 1275 single-spaced
pages.

There are, at present, over 1650 items on the site including logos, photos,
reviews, documents of interest and articles; 1100 are profiles.

There are over 16,775 (yes, not a misprint, 16,775!) internal links on the
site (and we're pretty sure they all connect to something).

To date, four critics from the Eastern part of the country archive their
articles there. (None from the West...we don't know why.)

The site is visited from 30 post-secondary institutions and 20 countries.
(Verified by Superstats) (It's very popular in Japan...we don't know why.)

The site is most busy on Sundays. (We think we know why: school assignments
due Monday. Anecdotally, the funniest e-mail we ever received was for as
much information as we could provide on a specific play, as soon as
possible, and to please put it in "book report style.")

The site has been profiled in The Ottawa Citizen (Jan 23, 99) and Hour
Magazine (Feb 11, 99) with an upcoming article in the Canadian Theatre
Review. Janice Kennedy's article in The Citizen increased the traffic to
the site by 150% the day it appeared.

The most popular new feature: Thea-Tricks (the weekly quizz) which had an
amazing 10 visits in its first hour (12 am-1am, February 26, 1999).

Just the list of THE ENCYCLOPEDIA's profiles fills 7 single-spaced pages,
three columns, 9-point type. (You want the list? We'll send it to you.)

You can advertise on the site for as little as $5 a month. (You want our
pitch? We'll send it to you.)

You can advertise a theatre production free. (For info, visit the site and
go to "Program!")

So join the party. Come to the site. See the new logo to celebrate the
occasion (it's on the top of every single profile). The logo symbolizes
comedy, tragedy and a touch of the old maple leaf.
