I also thought this might be of interest--mostly at the
end where *The Rez Sisters* is mentioned.

Oki Ann and All,
I didn't receive some posts evidently. Would someone send me a copy of
them privately if anyone saved any of them? I don't want to tie up
bandwidth if I am the only one that didn't get them, ?????? Perhaps I
should just wait and see if they come later?
Ummm, also who is Bill? I am thinking he is one of the list owners? But
know little about either you or him? Maybe we could start by you
introducing yourself and Bill introducing himself and then we could all
join in and catch up? For those of you who already know each other, I
apologize. I would just like to catch up to knowing who is here, and get
acquainted. I am shy.
I'm not familiar with what happened on Nat-film? Perhaps you could share
a brief synopsis of what happened for reference, so I could get up to
speed (posted either privately or publicly). Also would be interested in
whatever you would like to add as to what you are interested in
sharing/learning from this list?
I joined for the information in this arena, such as your Publication
post and the one about SAIL needing reviewers -- those were great ... I
would also like to see any and all writing contests, call for papers,
etc., and also just to be able to talk to someone about Native film, and
other forms of media and hopefully have someone know what I am referring
to enit?
I have found that on other lists that I belong to that are successful,
that part of the success stemmed from setting ground rules and direction
early on ... with flexibility of course, but info like -- is this a
private list or public?
I'm thinking that as we share information, thoughts, etc., we will find
opportunities to clarify how we interact with each other, who can join
and use the list, what we discuss, etc. Also are there any behavior
ground rules we would like to set, and are they set in stone or at who's
discretion?
There are many fronts on which to further the visibility, development,
and integrity of Native film and theater, as well as other media
depicting First Nations. Perhaps we could become a collective body that
is united on key issues and working on the same goals. Perhaps we will
just chit chat over Community coffee ...
Maybe we'll share ideas as to how to get an excellent film like say,
_Smoke Signals_, out of the art theaters and into mainstream where it
belongs ... also all the others ... when they first come out, -- and
then make these ideas into reality. Or discuss what this one would have
to do to get the play _Rez Sisters_ to come here to a local theater ...
Personally for me it is not an identity issue as to Native, non-Native;
but rather having the same goals. That is what is important to me and
hope this list is goal and information oriented.
I am excited about the prospect of learning about projects, contests,
publications, and all and meeting all of you, and look forward to
hearing from all soon.
Talk to you soon .......
