Appointment in Theatre

        The Department of Theatre, Faculty of Fine Arts, at the University
of Victoria invites applications for the position of Chair of the
Department.  The ideal candidate will be a Stage Movement specialist with a
strong performance background; however, qualified Theatre Historians are
encouraged to apply.  Administrative experience is important and strong
teaching and supervisory skills in both the undergraduate and graduate
areas are essential.  Advanced degrees are desirable but professional
experience will also be weighted heavily.  The position is being offered at
the rank of Associate Professor.

        The University of Victoria offers a B.F.A. with majors in Acting,
Directing, Design, and Theatre History, a M.F.A. in Directing and Design,
and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Theatre History.  Plans to expand the programme in
Performance are under consideration.  The Department boasts a
state-of-the-art facility within a strong Faculty of Fine Arts.  Victoria,
B.C. offers a thriving arts community, rich with theatre, music, dance and
the visual arts.
