The Canadian Theatre Critics Association will be holding its annual conference at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa October 15-17, 1999. Guests are invited. The CTCA schedule of events is as follows:
Friday, October 15:
3 p.m.: Check in/registration, Capitol Hill Hotel, 88 Albert St. Rooms: $89 taxes included, single or double. To reserve, telephone 613-235-1413. Mention the CTCA to obtain the corporate rate.
6 p.m.: Dinner, Le Cafe of the National Arts Centre
8 p.m.: Theatre performances, NAC English and French Theatre or Theatre de l'lle, Hull.
Saturday, October 16: Salon of the NAC
9:15 a.m.: Opening remarks, Shirley Thomson, Director, The Canada Council.
9:45 a.m.: Panel, "The National Arts Centre--Past Present and Future" with Alvina Ruprecht, Chair; Peter Herrendorf, Director General, NAC; Marti Maraden, English Theatre; Jean-Claude Marcus, French Theatre and Tibor Egervari, University of Ottawa.
11:45 Book launch of Herbert Whittaker's Setting the Stage: Montreal Theatre, 1920-1949, edited by Jonathan Rittenhouse. Introductions by Jeniva Berger, co-founder CTCA, Jonathan Rittenhouse and Aurele Parisien, Editor, McGill-Queen's University Press. Remarks by Herbert Whittaker.
12:30: Lunch
2 p.m.: Panel, "Ethics and the Critic" with Iris Winston, Chair; Jean-Louis Roux, John Coulbourn (Toronto Sun), Micheline Chevrier (Great Canadian Theatre Company), Michel Vais (Jeu, Radio Canada) and Robert Marinier (Theatre de la Vieile 17).
6 p.m.: Dinner
8 p.m. Final dress rehearsal, Great Canadian Theatre Company, The Orphan Muses.
Sunday, October 17: Foyer of La Nouvelle Scene, King Edward Avenue near Rideau
10 a.m.: CTCA Annual General Meeting
1 p.m.: Brunch
