Hello All:
FYI: Things which have to be remembered every time a profile is updated:
- Is the profile dated before April 10, 2000? (If so, it has to be
redesigned to accomodate technical changes at Canoe)
- Is the profile dated after June 29, 2000? (If so it has to be tagged as
having gone through a second revision)
- Does the new information represent a link to another profile? (Better
check the list of all the profiles - over 1250 of them - to see if a link is
necessary.)
- Does the new information have a source? (If so, then the source has to be
included at the bottom of the page - as part of the 2nd revision - and
included in the sourcelist; if the source is a human, the name of the source
has to also be included in the list of contributors on the masthead.)
- Does the old information in the profile still stand? (For instance, if a
death has occured - time to take care of tenses; and a phrase like "more
recently" looks pretty dumb if it refers to something more than two years
ago)
- Have we acquired a photo, since the profile was written or last updated,
that would nicely illustrate the profile? (If so, dig it up out of the 670
or so on the site and redo the coding for the page...)
-Spelczech!
And this doesn't touch the things which have to be done for a new profile!
(The addition of Bob White to the encyclopedia required updates to 12
separate profiles proving it was high time he be included on the site!)
Sounds like a lot of bother, but I have become so used to it - everything
feels pretty automatic - that it just buzzes along.
